I am mad at myself for going to 100 pages in this book.
Not even the idea of Jodie Comer taking one of the roles made me want to keep going.
What the fuck was the point of this.

I just really want to be Muderbot’s friend.

The drive to keep doing good (with some high level snark) despite really wanting to just lay down and watch a show is something I totally relate to.

“Family Meal” by Bryan Washington

I’m not really sure I have the words to describe what this book meant to me. It’s one of my favorites for the year. It’s the kind of book that feels like a world that I understand—the grief, family, and Houston. But also it’s an adjacent world because queer Houston now looks very different than it did for me, as a white woman queer person 20 years ago. Just. Damn.

This has weight and feels like you got to go on an emotional journey with these people.

How lucky are we to get to read a work like this one?

Whenever you need to come by, she said, there’s a place for you here.
I don’t think I can do that, I said.
There was a pause on the line. I could hear the words before she spoke them.
That’s all right, said Mae. As long as you know you can change your mind.

An A+ for sure for sure. Thanks The Novel Neighbor for sending this as part of my subscription. You nailed it.
