The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna

I really enjoyed this one and the way magic works in this universe. Also, it was really refreshing to read a book with main characters over 25 xD. While reading, there were some really good conversations between charactes that definitely made an impression. There's some healing and character growth that was really nice to read about. No, unnecessary drama because of miscommunications or something. The charactes felt very relatable in their responses. Some dialogues got me really good tbh.
Mika is such a strong FMC! I love how she stands up for what she believes in, and her love for magic drips off the pages, it's so sweet. The kids were adorable and everyone needs an Ian in their lives. I feel like Lucie kind of fell to the background and some stuff could've worked through a little more maybe, but that would add to the page count and have the risk of it being dragged i suppose.

Ooooooooo this was sUCH a fun read! Payback's a witch is about three witches' revenge that takes on a bigger part than just getting in the way of Garreth's victory at during the town's Gauntlet. A sort of hungergames? meets HP? kind of magical tournament. One of these three is Emmy, who left Thistle Grove for 10 years and comes back to be the arbiter, as is tradition.
Throughout the book we learn Emmy's reasons for leaving and what being back in the village, with her best friend and Talia does to her. Some really nice, reflective conversations take place that can be somewhat inspirational if you're a lil lost. Character growth is >>>.
The writing is amazing, the descriptions, metaphors and feelings overall are well conveyed. Thitle Grove sounds like a dream tbh! The story itself is the perfect light halloween read. Some darker topics are touched, as written the Avramovs are gray in their magic and morals. Also romace <3, but it's not suuuuper heavily touched upon? Also it's sapphic :) Just vibes :D

Aaaaaww, this really was so cozy! We follow Viv the Orc in her post-mawling quest to open a coffeeshop in a little city, Thune. With the help of her Scalvert's Stone, it's fortune all around with how her shop fares, until it's not. The moments of tension in this book were very low (except for maybe one), as to not take you out of the cozy feeling too much. I love Viv! She's such a badass but also relatable in her doubts... I would have liked maybe a little more on the other characters but I also find that a lot of that information is in-between the lines?
While reading I felt like I read so much only for it to have been like, 1 chapter xD - A cozy read perfect for Autumn and to lead into Spooktober :)

This book was on a whole other level. I really had to get into it for the first few chapters but once I did I couldn't put it down. We follow Violet who gets forced into the Riders' Quadrant by her mother, when she actually wants to be a scribe. She's small and breaks easily- how is she going to ride dragons and fight in the war, if she even survives the first year...
The worldbuilding was amazing! I lOVE Tairn, he's such a sassy ass dad figure and all his dialogue cracked me up xD Andarna is such a golden (iykyk) retriever I love her.The political intrigue was super well done. I had a feeling certain stuff was going to happen but I also kept being surprised. I really wonder what's going down in book 2 :).
It's not focussed on it but it had some (really good xD) spice in there as well. If you're remotely interested in fantasy this is a must read! I was really scared it was going to let me down from the hype it got but it's well deserved :)

This is a short novella taking place after Her Assassin's, leading into the fourth book and it's rly nothing but smut😂
The guys are preparing a sort of party that's traditional to her history in order to surprise her and that's all the plot we get, all the other chapters are filth.

Good filth, but filth nevertheless 👍
Locks still my fave :3💜

Okay so we have book 3 in the Shattered Isles series, the marvel retelling- focussed on Gessi instead of Cari with Varian (Venom), Crane (Hawkeye), River (Ant-Man) and Blaize (Bucky). This is the one i was looking forward to because of venom x)- yes he shifts🤤 i mean what?
Story wise I feel like it was a lil more story compared to Cari's books so I liked that more as well. The smut was spicy af but i don't know if I'll continue with the fourth book? We'll see when its released.
They're very short reads and a fun pallate cleanser in between larger series :)

So this one, honestly, it was so repetitive that when I felt like it was gonna go on I'd skip half a page😅
In the end I feel like all these could've been in one book together? So some parts would be less dragged out or sth. It also took me until now to realise the gods are all Greek gods/goddesses but Death is called death/sydian and not Thanatos?

I hope the next one is gonna be a bit better again, like the 2nd one. It's becoming quite obvious that Hazel is more than just a mortal and I've my theories but im looking forward to the reveal :)

Way way better than book 1 in my opinion!! Especially a bit before the half way mark when things start rolling- the further in, the harder it got to put the book down!
Deaths devotion💜💜 Hazel is also way less annoying 😂
I loved reading Eros' POV and getting more of Deaths'.
Looking forward to book 3 because this one was a cliffhanger for sure 😂

It took me a hot minute to finish this one tbh xD I had/have the most mssive reading slump and Its been a struggle to pick up a book but slowly we;ll finished them one by one.
I think what i struggled with with this one is because it follows so tightly on the first one, I've gotten kind of out of it. And when you're super into the story you can deal with the cringe a bit better? xD because although the story is really fun, Cari is a hella bad ass and I love her and Gessi- it's all still just a Marvel Fanfic x).
Either way it's entertaining, the spice it hot and I had fun reading it :)
