THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL. Dark fantasy romance, we have some gore and horror, enemies to lovers, life or death trials, vampires, demons, found family, betrayal, war.
✨This book is dark, bloody, broody. Thrilling and exciting! The pacing was perfect (for me) the characters had distinct personalities. The twists and turns of the story were unexpected (for me).

Seeing how Hadrian and Royce have really grown together from the first book to the second was great. I love the grumpy x sunshine trope that they have as friends. Per usual MJS made me cry actual tears. I need to just stop getting attached to characters in any of his books. But he makes it so difficult to not care.

I appreciate receiving this ARC. For a debut novel this is super solid! I was kind of hoping for more fantasy but there was so much build up before we even know about selkies or sirens or anything that when we finally see it, it felt rushed. I like Ellie as a character though, she handles things as best as she could given her crazy situation. As much as I wanted to love Lawson, I just didn’t click with him as a romance interest but that’s just a personal taste thing. Not a bad read but it was a pretty slow start.

(I’m reading all of the series in chronological order NOT publication order) Ok this adventure was probably my least favorite of the chronicles. However, the second half of the book really picked up. AS USUAL, I need to stop liking new characters because well…. RIP. We do get more lore and the history of the elves and dwarves further in the book. It’s exciting reading this in chronological order and KNOWING what the actual history is where here Hadrian and Royce, like everyone else, only knows what people have passed down. All of the little head nods and Easter eggs just make it really fun overall. Will be starting the Revelations series next week, I love that I get more Hadrian and Royce. Their bromance, grumpy x sunshine trope is top tier.

This book was near perfection. After I read ACOTAR everyone was just like, ‘just wait until ACOMAF’. You all were so very correct! By the end of the book I was shaking with happiness, anger, and sadness. It sent goosebumps from my arms to my knees!

Spice. Yall. Chapter 55 is well known for a reason! Even if it wasn’t overly explicit, the fact that we have been building such raw emotion for so long it was just

This was a beautifully crafted story of a who’s who, undercover, intel gathering, witch and witch hunter pairing. Both sides always seem two steps ahead of one another. It made me want to root for both Gideon and Rune in the beginning. It was fun because just when I thought I knew who was “winning,” a new curveball got thrown.

Ok this review isn’t going to be very long probably. If you haven’t read the first 2 books I recommend not reading my review unless you don’t care that while I’m not writing spoilers, I may fill in too many details

So ACOWAR has a lot more politics. Do we still have spice obsessed bat boys? Yes. But here we are focused on finally going to WAR (see what she did there?) with Hybern. So there wasn’t a lot of lightheartedness compared to the first two books.

The pacing I feel ebbed and flowed. Some parts really dragged out for me while other parts I was just eating it up. So it was a little odd to me.

The actual battle I feel was really well written, sometimes, without visual aid, writing a full battle scene can be… lackluster. But it flowed pretty well. I was surprised at the ✨ending✨ of the war. Wasn’t expecting a certain person to do a certain thing. Iykyk.

Ok so I really didn’t think I could hate Tamlin even more but he really just condemns himself to unforgivable, in my opinion, due to his actions here.

The spice was fine. No more or less than what we’ve seen in this series so far.
