Gentle sci-fi. The story  does get dark in places, yet it retains its Warmth and hopefulness throughout.

I expected a cosy bit of speculative fiction; I got weird, rambling literary fiction with a heavy dose of weird. This one was not for me.

The whole satanic panic thing was a bit dated. But the story was well told with compelling and unique characters.
