what a brilliantly disturbing read! kingfisher breathes new life into an old classic. in a mere 158 pages she manages to build such a vibrant and realistic world. you know what is going to happen, but how it happens is all the more exciting. gorgeous prose written as if the book came right out of the late 19th century itself.

This is trashy romance in the absolute best of ways. The writing attempts to be meta and it works probably 1/4 of the time and is probably the reason a lot are turned off. Stick it out for the spice if you can. Its VERY forward.
