I had to read Candide for a history course, and I loved it! This surprised me because I have a tendency to despise assigned reading, but Candide was entertaining, fast paced, and absolutely ridiculous. It was fantastic
I love Szabo's books, the way the characters are written is so brilliant. Each character is so multi-faceted, everytime I start to form a steadfast opinion on onw of them I'm caught off guard by another level of the person. I loved and hated and loved the characters from start to finish. My main complaint is that the novel felt like it was ended too early. The ending was so exciting, I was so attached to the characters and then it felt cut off and left too open-ended. I loved this book but the ending, or lack thereoff, was disappointing.
I've gotta admit I watched the TV show 1st, so I'm a bit biased. But, I really loved this graphic novel (collection of comics?). The art was so unique and gorgeous, and the twists and turns made the whole story so brilliantly fun. I'm a die hard fan of the show, but the comic is a great story in and of itself.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Piranesi is one of the oddest books I've ever read. When I first started it I really didn't like it, it was slow and confusing. It was like reading a dream, the story felt disconected and pointless. But as Piranesi himself discovered more, so did the reader. The ending is fantastic, it both ties up the story and allows the reader to imagine. I have mixed feelings about this book, but the ending and the storytelling is so interesting, and I would definitely recomend giving it a read.
