Choyce needed therapy not dick šŸ˜«šŸ˜«šŸ˜«

Lovely love story but Choyce is an idiot - Iā€™m sorry there is no other easy way to say it. But the way she let Ramir waste so much of her time was criminal - it wasnā€™t even a relationship it was a one sided situationship that only HE benefited from and the fact that she kept on lamenting on what he wouldnā€™t do as compared to Simeon really had me hot and side eyeing her. Like donā€™t get me wrong I get why she stayed but a person should only have a handful of times to let you down for you to keep on letting them in - the amount of things that she allowed herself to put up with had me just like come again?? So no lie, every time she would bring him up- Iā€™d just skip it bc what do you meannnnnnnn šŸ¤ØšŸ˜

But Iā€™m glad he disappointed her one last time and into the arms of a Mason bc their banter was toooo funny (like with most of the Masonā€™s lol) !!!

But truly in all seriousness she really did need some therapy - like the loss of her family, potential guilt of her parents leaving when they did, her extended family trying to scam her, Ramir - like mama went through a lot and really needed someone to help her work through that so that she wonā€™t be continuously triggered.

And even with all that, I truly did enjoy this story overall.

Sooo many secrets, soo many liesā€¦..and soo many questions

Overall this was a very solid sequel and really helped move the story along - I wonder how itā€™ll end and if all the questions I do have that have been posed by the book will be answered.

Questions like: what really happened to Celeste and was it a plan all along?
- Who got rid of the architect and why?
- Why did only some of the aces have their memory wiped (Johan & Master Thakur)
- Why does Sebastian keeping making deals with Gia?!?!
- What happened to Sebastian when he attempted to go live in a Marvelian city?
- And honestly who is behind all of this forreal foreal?

If you have young adults, that are the intended age range, I believe that this book will be good in helping them see how prejudice can be cruel and unfair - since this book really mirrors what happened when black kids integrated white schools. I think itā€™ll also teach them how to be brave or the importance of doing the right thing even when others arenā€™t or when it might not feel too good to not do what others are doing, even when you really want to fit in.

All in all itā€™s a good book & I highly recommend it. But I think for me personally (as an adult lol) Iā€™m okay on reading the 3rd book and not anything on this book, I just donā€™t want to be upset at kids being kids lol if that makes any sense - this book is definitely wonderful for its intended audience- I just sometimes donā€™t have the patience at times for childishness (which they rightfully are lol so itā€™s more of a me thing than anything).

But once again this book was really nice.  Gia really needs to get a grip on herself bc sheā€™s beefing with 12 year olds šŸ˜« like maā€™am get a grip PLS !!!

I liked the overall story but Milan was slightly annoying as a main character- glad it was a novelette bc I donā€™t know how much more I could have taken of her because why did she go off on the station manger like that??? Like girl be forreal šŸ’€šŸ˜«

But overall it was a decent inbetween read

Overall this is a nice sweet, though sometimes corny/overly gushy book. And donā€™t get me wrong, I like corny lol but this one just didnā€™t feel believable and felt too rushed, especially towards the end - one minute they were trying to want to take it slow bc itā€™s still very new, but then on the next sentence over theyā€™re both planning on meeting the entire familyā€¦it was just a lot and felt so rushed.

So despite their big words of admiration and love it just ultimately fell flat to meā€¦ā€¦and I really wanted to love it but I just couldnā€™t believe it. I sadly left reading the last couple of pages saying ā€œSure Jan, if you say soā€

This review contains SPOILERS: This was such an unsatisfactory ending to this story.

Damien for all the harm, pain, and suffering that he cost shouldnā€™t have made it out alive. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE ENTIRE SERIES IF THAT MF WAS JUST ABLE TO LIVE WITH ALL HIS RICHES?????

Also why in the world were we introduced to a new couple: Harrison & Savi when the core friend group is what weā€™ve known for the first two books?! This was just for a lack of better words lame. At least Terry died. But everything else - šŸ˜‘šŸ˜’

Once again this book needed trigger/content warnings:
- Mention of sexual assault
- Physical violence
- Drugging

I highly recommend the audiobook as it helped bring the story even more to life & in my mind.

If you have middle school children or loved ones I think theyā€™ll really enjoy this story as itā€™s easy to understand, fun, a bit adventurous without being too scary, and also helps to showcase how prejudice works in ways that theyā€™ll be able to understand.

Plot wise I wish we got less filler scenes or movie changes as I like to call them as not everything was needed and didnā€™t really help move the story along but Iā€™m not in middle school so maybe itā€™s helpful for them. I also wish that the ā€œheroā€ moment was more ā€œah-haā€ and full of climax bc it just kinda just happened but all in all I enjoyed the story. And I will say that the plot twist were a total surprise and packed more punch than the ā€œyou saved the dayā€ moment.

But all in all I enjoyed it and would absolutely love to see Ella, Jason, and Brigit on the big screen one day.

Just now finished so these are my initial thoughts:

This book NEEDS CONTENT WARNINGS:
- Mentions of sexual assault
- Gun violence
- Parental abandonment and abuse
- short mention of suicidal ideations
- Kidnapping
- mentions of physical violence
- surprise pregnancy

- Marcus is an idiot with no redeeming qualities, just a terrible MMC. I need less of his POV bc golly is he rude, arrogant, and constantly thinking without speaking - hate him

- Q & Ren are cute, enjoyed their buildup but wish we got more, seemed like whenever their relationship would progress the next chapter would have someone elseā€™s POV

The book reads like a continuation of book 1, which all in all flows together like a movie so overall plot wise is šŸ‘ŒšŸ¾ but meh on the romance.

From how these two books ended, I think this series should have just been one big book since everything just flows into one another & itā€™s not just following a different couple with their own thing/crime to solve. Theyā€™re all linked

It was okayā€¦ā€¦listening to audio really helped move things along so I recommend that if you find yourself struggling.

Overall I didnā€™t find a connection to the main characters, especially Marcus - he was just a very unlikeable character and I couldnā€™t see or understand the appeal that Naomi had for him other than physical/sexual attraction bc literally all they ever did was have sex so I wasnā€™t seeing it for them. Even at the end when he ā€œapologizedā€ it was so meh and ended again with sex bc he acknowledged that sex was their biggest connection.

Now overall plot wise, I enjoyed that - but the ending just merged into the next book with no true resolution for Naomi so itā€™s almost like you have to read book 2 to get a conclusion and speaking of the ending you kind of see it coming once you start piecing things together so my main question is no one did a true background check on Renata? Bc it took Q like 2seconds to figure things out and you mean to tell me that the FBI couldnā€™t piece that together ????

But anywhoos - hoping that book two has better characters Iā€™ll care for who do more than just bone and a story that truly concludes.
