it was a little too close to home/cringe & was also too straight i had lowkey assumed one of her friends would be gay and was disappointed.

a novel of deep discussions within a family built around false perceptions that crack following the death of their middle child/eldest daughter who was both of the parents favorite. i thought it was well done, historical fiction without the writing feeling out of it.

i read this in winter 2016 for my 7th grade english class & decided to re-read it & im so glad i did. pulled me out of a reading slump, and even though i vaguely remembered the twist i still felt pulled in & questioning my remembrance.
