“The trick is to find that one person who can give it back as good as they can take it.”

This book was as cute and lovable as expected. JT can talk to me that way any day. Just enough tension. Really enjoyable.

“I didn’t have time for boys or trouble. And this guy was the prettiest boy I’d ever met, so of course, he was trouble with a capital T.”

Blue and Aaron were a couple out of left field for me, but it was nice to be introduced to characters that didn’t feel like they were in the “main group” during previous books. It was a little too long for me, somewhere in between a novella and novel. It had the plot of novella with the length of novel, so it felt like it was way too drawn out. I wish Giana would have just committed to one or the other. Other than that, she worked her magic, made a lovable couple who I was rooting for until the end.

I’ll be interested to see who she chooses next. Curtains? Kodiak? Dane? I felt like they could all be possible.

“And I kiss him back as though I’m saying goodbye to something that was never mine in the first place. Because I’m choosing love. Just not my own.”

I really like Lark and Lachlan, they are so good together. This book was just very oddly compared the B&B. We spent most of the book with absolutely nothing happening, only for the climax and conflict to come to a head in the last 12%?? I feel like the execution could have been much better by the author. Despite that, I still enjoyed it and I think it got me out of my reading slump.🤞🏻

“Sometimes people do exactly what you think they’re going to do, and they still manage to disappoint you.”

1.5 stars - This quote accurately describes how I feel about this book. It is not a good psychological thriller when the entire plot relies on the FMC being an idiot. The plot holes and inconsistencies in the book were ridiculous. And we’re just combining the plot twists of Scream 1 and 2 for our book? Great.

But the very end? Like father like son, doing anything and everything for our moms I guess.

I hate this book so much. The more I read, the more I hated it. This book was too fucking long for a smutty hockey romance. Rachel sucks. Caleb and Jake should have just been together without her. Ilmari is hot. He deserves better than her. I was not invested in any part of the romance that involved her. Fuck this FMC. She sucks. No way in hell is she getting THREE men to be this fucking obsessed with her. I know she’s “different than the other girls” with her septum piercing and medical degree and astrology signs but no way are there 3 men this obsessed with her and willing to share with her.

And she would not shut the fuck up about their stars signs. She literally brought it into their normal conversations like “well you know, he’s our Sagittarius so…” No I don’t Rachel. And I don’t care at all. I don’t even know what that means. I wanted to rip my eyeballs out.

The plot of this book was fucking stupid and unrealistic. She probably would have lost her license for what she did, not just be worried about losing her fellowship. This is entire thing was a violation of medical ethics. I couldn’t suspend my disbelief at all. I skimmed to the end once she met the GM of the team lmao.

I should have just DNRd when I found out she was a doctor but tried to give it the benefit of doubt. The phrase “glorified physical therapist” is where this author lost me completely. No sis, she’s an MD… she’s a doctor. Fuck that.

I don’t even know if I want to give book 2 a try even though I am very intrigued by Tess and her budding romance. It’ll have to wait thought because I would probably hate rank it cause this book pissed me off so much.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 49%.
DNF @ 49% and what did even just read? I tried to push through but I couldn’t. I normally don’t rate stuff that I DNF but this one was bad. If I had the capabilities to give it lower than 1 star I would. It deserves 0.25 stars or honestly even 0 stars.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a dark romance lover but this is just so poorly written. It’s dial pov and the author repeated a few scenes with others perspective of the scene. It was unnecessary. He’s not attractive. He’s obsessed with her but not in a good way. I have so many thoughts. The way the FMC described his “beautiful” and “gigantic” dick as a monster was repulsive. Also she is so fucking annoying and insecure. She did not react appropriately at all to her love interest getting a background check on her when they barely met. The way he got up in front of her college class and basically peer pressured her into going out with him??? He ate her out in his hockey teams locker room… while the other players were in there???? He made a copy of the key to her house and did stuff to her while she was asleep?? My last straw was finding out that he had tattooed her name on his dick before they even slept together. No thank you.

The main problem for me is not the actions of the MMC that could be considered triggers or too dark. I have literally just seen it done so much better by numerous authors of dark romance. It’s not poorly written. It’s not good. It’s not worth your time. If I could petition for a book to be unpublished, it would be this one, definitely in my top 3 worst reads of 2024 so far.

*** update****
After glancing through some reviews - he gets her evicted, fired from her job, and then chains her up in her apartment when she tries to leave him??? Wtf??? Literally JAIL.

This is not a dark romance, sis. I’m all for creativity and freedom of speech. But these are inside thoughts that should have stayed in the brain instead of being written into a book.

Also, I read that the author likes to make fun of readers and their reviews in her little reader Facebook page, not cool. But if you’re still doing that, I hope you enjoy being a bully and making fun of mine.

Based on this book & her supposed actions, she will be placed on my dnr list. And yes, I will go through your entire goodreads catalogue of works as of today and add them to my list. I want to remember how much I hated this book and not give you any money if goodreads tries to recommend you to me.

“She owns me, and that makes her the most powerful wolf in the five packs. And I don’t think she has a clue.”

I am currently on a werewolf romance kick, so I really enjoyed this one. The plot twists were very obvious to me but I still had a good time reading this one. I don’t think the plot twist was explained very well at all though. There needed to be another scene with Abertha and an explanation. It felt like all the Wattpad werewolf romances I used to read in the 2010s. It was a little too drawn out for me. It probably could have been about 80-100 pages too long in my opinion.

“If I tell you you’re beautiful, will it make you uncomfortable?” Max asked, his voice low and gentle.
Yes, but in a good way. Instead, she said, nervously, “Um…” “Never mind then.” He turned away with a sly smile.
“Wait—”
“Too late, you’re hideous to me now.”

I enjoyed this book much more than the first two. I still think this authors writing is much better with dual POV, so I am glad she chose to continue to write with them in this book. I felt this one had a much stronger plot vs just the romance. Max was the cutest golden retriever boyfriend. I was more invested in this romance than the other two and it felt like there was more turmoil.

I am very intrigued by the ending in the epilogue. I will be excited to read what happens in book 4. I hope the events in the next book allow Max to return home.
