Best not to go into this expecting it to be a total hamlet retelling, as there are some big changes, but all the changes work and the things that are kept the same are smooth. I also loveddd how ai operated in the story, it was very unique and compelling.

The mystery is really well done and engaging, and pulled me in immediately. While the details of two cities and how they intertwine are explained, they don't really go into the history or politics of it as much as i hoped, so if thats what you pick the book up for, you may be disappointed.

A very genuine book about the unkind, self-destructive, ugly ways people grieve. if you need protagonists to be likeable in order to sympathize with them, read something else. Not actually that funny, but still very heartfelt

A great start for anyone wanting to get into gothic lit. starts slow, but definitely makes good use of that time to build tension and sprinkle in foreshadowing and clues that keep you engaged. a little simplistic at times, but not so much that it pulls you out of the story
