The ending makes me wanna give it 5 stars but over all I’m a bit upset about how this one played out. I wanted way more of a reconciliation between Aaron and Kenji much much earlier though the end had me in my feels :’) While I liked Jules personality shining, it bothered me what she put Aaron through when she knows he hates surprises and even Kenji is aware of it and concerned with Aaron having panic attacks towards the end. And just the fact that she abandoned him for the surprising him and knew he wasn’t doing well alone and that he hates surprises it was just like wtf. Also expected even a little Aaron x his brothers bonding more than we received. Instead we mostly ended up with Nouria and Sam treating him like shit, blowing up on him, essentially telling him he’s worthless. Aaron being mean to Kenji until the last chapter (hated how their relationship disintegrated in the last two books) and Aaron literally spiraling the entire time. AND ALMSOT ZERO QUEEN NAZEERA CONTENT which I’m so pressed about. Idk it could’ve been a lot more development of Aaron’s relationships with people, at least more than just in the last 2 chapters. Definitely going to miss these characters though, it’s weird it’s over.

I found the ending to be incredibly abrupt considering it was actually meant to be the last book I would’ve been upset if that was the ending BUT since it’s not and there’s still like four (?) books or more left I’m happy because she did leave it open ended. Now to what I loved? Everything, even the parts that got me fired up (cough cough Adam) I don’t hate Adam and I’m glad towards the end he seemed to accept everything regarding his relationship with Jules and then also by the end he seemed okay to get to know Aaron and I really appreciated that and I cannot wait to see more of it. The slow burn was done mostly well, I will always wish YA books went just a little more in depth, this was my first dystopian book series that I can recall ever reading!! And I freakin loved it. I’m afraid for Warnette as we move forward though I just want them to be solid. Also one of my fave aspects of the book was Kenji and Jules becoming best friends, that was EVERYTHING

An all-nighter was had and 180+ pgs were read in one sitting. Was a little tough for me to get into at first but once I hit that point of no return I was flying through and very involved lmao

I enjoyed it but it was also a pretty basic storyline at least so far but it was still fun. It’s almost like what I HOPED Red Queen would be but wasn’t, powerless was like 100x more entertaining and I connected with the characters better. I’m hoping book two is better

I loved this series this book was right in line except for a few things but then the second half was a mess. This happens to a lot of YA series though. It didn’t make me hate it or anything, in the second half it was a lot of dumb decisions and too much

Loved this book, so fun and fresh. So original and mysterious. Wish it was new adult honestly so there could be more romance and complex maybe even longer

Rereading this and I cried more than the first time, the end had me sobbing, I can’t even imagine what I’m gonna be going through in KoA this series is just a masterpiece. SJM has really embedded these characters into my soul
