This is the third book I've read from Seishi Yokomizo.  Eventough I don't find the plot spectacular, I'm still captivated by the storytelling. It is easy to see the scenarios in my head, which I find more difficult with other books.
In contrast to the Honjin Murders and The Village of Eight Graves, this one was told mostly from the detective's perspective, which I enjoyed more.

The first quarter of the book is slow-paced. The main focus is world building. Once a new character was introduced, the world and the main character started to change.

I enjoyed the the reading journey but I wish the ending was less rushed.

I wish we got to know more about how his return was perceived. By him and others. Just a little information on the first few days of his return and his reaction to the real world that he forgot

I loved this book! I was hooked from the start and there were moments I laughed out loud. However, I wish the ending was a couple of chapters longer. Felt a bit rushed. Nevertheless, I see myself reading this book again.
