With absolutely stunning prose, it basically reads like a poem- the only reason it wasn't a full five stars for me was that I didn't connect with the love story in this. It just made no sense to me why these two people would fall in love when they basically don't know each other.

I know everyone says they just didn't like the ending but tbh if I had known this book wasn't actually about the virgin birth but rather a weird take at a tragic forbidden romance, I wouldn't have picked it up in the first place.

And the ending was uncalled for.
