Quique is a gigantic mood. I can't lie, the
Ziggy bait
almost made me knock it down half a star, but
Saleem and Quique
are just too cute.

lots of cool ideas, prescient concepts, weird executions. typical mystery-written-by-a-man tropes. racist imagery, as per usual ig. there is brief depiction of a minstrel character and a reference to the KKK and these are meant to flavor futuristic tokyo and add to its vaguely dystopic feeling. but like. lame.

Oh man. Andrew and Jamie's lack of communication hurt to witness.
Especially since Andrew was convinced for so long that he was the evil one and Jamie was this pure, angelic character who wouldn't have been tainted by murder if they hadn't met. I would have loved to see Andrew dwelling on that aspect of their differences rather than "Jamie just wants revenge and I don't recognize that boy anymore."
I was so surprised that Amy wasn’t a bigger side character. She was really only there as Henry's daughter, which was a shame.

manufactured YA angst is not my bag anymore. it takes me out of a book when I can see the seams of the stitched-together drama. I should have looked into the book more beyond seeing it in a twitter thread
