Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I'm always hesitant to give a book 5 stars but WOW was that good. I just came from quitting acotar after reading the 3rd book, acowar (I'm sorry y'all, Feyre was annoying me and acosf just isn't appealing to me rn. anyways...) and was afraid it'd be hard to get into something that wasn't high fantasy. Boy was I wrong! Divine Rivals swept me off my feet. I absolutely fell in LOVE with Iris, Roman, Attie, and Marisol. I immediately downloaded Ruthless Vows on my Kindle and started reading it. I know Booktok hyped this one up and that can be "ehhhh" but they were right about this one!

Much better than acotar! I didn't love it as much as other people did but the ending had me picking up acowar not even 5 minutes after I was finished with this one
Lemme start by saying - I did enjoy majority of this book and you SHOULD DEFINITELY read it but....I wanted so badly to love it as much as I loved Fourth Wing and felt let down.
Beyond the ridiculous amount of cussing (I mean.... C'mon, I get a moderate amount but this was excessive) the ongoing argument between Xaden and Violet tortured me. Violet, I love you girl but get over it 😭 I understand why Yarros went with this trope it was just kinda, flat. Fourth Wing captured me and Iron Flame, well, kept me entertained but I can't say I enjoyed all of it. Guess what?! I'm still gonna read the next book so disregard all of this🤣 This series is still worth the hype it receives imo. If you want to get back into reading, look no further than the Empyrean series.
This book broke my heart and wrapped me up in the hug I didn't know I needed. It is gut wrenching as the other reviews have mentioned but I see why so many people recommend this book. As cliche as it sounds, I couldn't put it down. I was reading Iron Flame and pushed that to the side once I started reading this. I learned, I loved, my jaw hit the floor. I will tell everyone about this book. You must read it!
