My choice for Albania. Took me a long time to read, I was a little "huh where is this going" for the first half of the book, which kinda bored me, but the second half is really good. I do love child protagonists.

John Boyne is an amazing writer, obviously, and I do enjoy the criticism in it. However, I find it hard to truly enjoy books where almost every character is so unlikable. I spend the entire book like "just die??"

4.5 stars!
If it had been a bigger book or maybe a series where the relationships and characters could be explored in more depth, it would be a greater book. But, with what it was, it was amazing. A bit Bunchian in the romantic love thing but I can relate to that. I feel like this book was formed by an idea to fuse sci-fi with fantasy and it worked pretty well!
