I’m honestly so glad this was my introduction to the Halo books and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of them.

Sadly, this isn’t a five-star read for me but by the end, I was having a good time. Even though this included one of my least favourite tropes, and to be honest I feel like this gives off the vibe of the author trying to write about new characters but, then getting sucked back into old ones which I usually wouldn’t have a problem with but, the fact that if the names and some minor moments were changed I wouldn’t even think it was a sequel isn’t great.

That being said if this wasn’t a sequel I would have most likely rated this five stars. This just didn’t feel like Wes and Liz. And the ending I needed like another fifty to a hundred pages.

As a sequel this is maybe a 2.5 but because I feel like I would rate it higher if those things were changed I’m going to go with a 3.5 although I might change my mind on that when I let it sit longer.

I just finished my first prompt for Halloween-a-thon and I love the idea of this book. But, this sadly wasn’t the 5 star I predicted it was going to be. I wasn’t a fan of how it played out. I couldn’t help but want more of everything by the end as I was left feeling like it was rushed and only scratched the surface of what it could have become. That being said this is a prequel so maybe reading what is now considered to be the sequel will go over better for me.

The take on zombies was cool but like I said earlier I just wanted more.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I almost wasn’t going to read this book at all but I’m so glad I did. The mystery, the intrigue, and the little bits of world building. I have so many questions about the world and Din that I hope will eventually be answered.

I was expecting to like this more than I did. This isn’t bad but there wasn’t enough.

A fun read that definitely gave me Coraline vibes. But, Bela is written a few years younger than it’s said she is. And we were kept a distance away from her even though this is her story. I would still recommend this for the vibes but I’m glad I got this through the library.

A pleasant read that I look forward to continuing to see how the story unfolds. I really enjoyed the art style especially in the game.

I went into this expecting to love at least one of these stories but they were all just okay. I didn’t like Please Leave Or I’m Gonna Hurt You though.
