i really couldn't get on with this. unsure if it was because i feel fatigued at all of the similar themed novels recently released but i wanted so much more from this, it seemed kind of limited, not much interesting about the world was really explored and it felt kind of empty and formulaic.

really beautiful artwork and layout. really hit me hard with how unrelenting it seemed, but i think that's why it was so good? idk

this was so good and funny and hit me hard that i said "fuck" out loud like multiple times. it ruled! wonderful exploration of friendship and self imposed loneliness and fucking up and carrying on anyway. i also just love julia's style it's the best!!!

really enjoyed this. very "weird" but not really, sometimes reading her stuff feels like the inner workings of my brain, which is a lovely thing

I didn't care for the modern day parts very much at all, whilst I found the character sympathetic and would have liked to read it as a story in its own right. I just thought it took away from the historical storyline a bit and felt a lot shallower? The book seemed to drag a bit because of this sadly. I didn't not enjoy it though, just wished it to be a bit different.

Found this very difficult to get through, seemed like it was trying to do gross out stuff but I felt bored by it? Premise seemed up my street but there was nothing to keep me interested.
