Honestly, I didn’t like the main character and she felt kind of whiney to me. It’s almost as if she was asking for self destruction, the way she never let herself get over Gabe. Not to say that some loves will stay with you your whole life but she welcomed this with open arms and chose to stay in contact with him which just frustrated me.

I was shocked by how fast I fell in love with these characters. The writing, while sometimes exudes fanfic energy, is extremely fun to read and made it hard to put the book down. This book definitely exceeded all my expectations.

When I got about halfway through this book I thought that I wouldn’t finish it because it was feeling very monotonous and superficial. However, once it picked up, I couldn’t put it down. The last half or so of the book completely swept me up and I definitely did not expect the twist that’s revealed. Lockhart’s writing is beautifully tragic and these characters are ones that I surprised myself by caring for so much. A great example as to why you should always push to finish a book, even if you’re doubting it.
