if you are interested in learning more about the facts of the Lizzie Borden case, then read this book. this gives an unbiased telling of both sides and leaves you to amazingly baffle at this infamous unsolved mystery. I absolutely love this story in history! sometimes the book does get a little wordy though.
It was a fast and fun read. I kept trying to figure about out how all of the pieces to the puzzle fit. I did figure out or guess and was correct about some pieces but there were still some fun surprises!
I loved all of the riddles and clues! I liked that there was still character development. It was kind of cliche that some of the players were falling for each other. I didn't know this was basically only part 1 of the games, but I don't think the Cliff hanger was around enough to make me crave the next. Though I will def be reading it! I think the riddles got a little long, but then also there were 3 different stories basically going on. Such a fun read! Definitely more for finishing in one sitting because I would forget where I left off in the story.
I loved the concept of this book. The main character was very unique. Lots of great discussion topics. Very thought -provoking about death and a beautiful story. The only downside was I wasn't always super excited to pick it up and the ending was a little cliche.
I started this book in 2018... It took me 6 years to pick it back up and only because I forced myself (I have to finish every book I start eventually). It's so boring that it was hard for me to follow... Even listening to the audio when I came back to read it. I did not feel bad for any character and hated the main character. It had some good one liners and quotes and lessons, which is why I think it won a prize... But don't waste your time. It was the longest 261 pages ever!
This was not my favorite Ruth Ware book, but I still appreciate all plot holes filled. It took awhile to get to the mystery... And then it was figured out relatively fast. I figured out a clue before the characters did, but I just wasn't sure I was right until the characters talked about it. Although I did like the back and forth POV because it became a game of "which charger was smarter and faster" and reminded me of a little "they know that I know they know I know" 😁.
If you like Harry Potter books, you will like this book and series too. The world building and plot line is similar but still different enough to be it's own world. Great for middle school or upper elementary readers!
I agree with what everyone is saying about the characters and the police investigation... I rounded up because I finished it in 2 days because I had to know what was going on. It did give a little bit of "and then there were none" ending, but I didn't see it fully coming. I did suspect the ending twist once or twice but not sure how it would've worked.
It was a cute middle grade historical ghost story. I just didn't think the plot developed enough and I didn't really understand how the curse was broken... It wasn't boring but it wasn't great.
This was the most depressing book I've read in awhile and yet so informative of the times. It made me feel so much as a mom and so thankful for everything I have. Read it but know that it doesn't end happily.
