Initially, I rated this 5 stars but I changed to 4 because I have been thinking about this book a lot and how I wanted so many other things to happen but they just weren't delivered.

I'll first talk about the things I loved about this book. I enjoyed the author's choice of words, I literally devoured them like they were amazing, immaculate and WONDERFUL!! I also felt many things for Addie La Rue, and i think it's because of how we got to know a lot about her past, and she's honestly incredibly smart. The last 100 pages of the book were painful to read but wow V.E Schwab's writing is remarkable. I especially enjoyed reading henry's and addie's dialogues! Very interesting to read and they kept me hooked :-)

Now, the things that i wish were included into the book,

I didn't feel a single thing for Luc (no remorse, nothing! I didn't CARE about him at all) primarily because he didn't have a back story and i genuinely wish he did. Then I thought, maybe the author's intention was for us to not care about Luc? Well idk but personally i would have liked to know more about his past since he plays a very huge role in Addie's life.

Secondly, the book was very euro-centric. I mean I loved that Addie is from France, j'adore le Français & I loved the French references. But she had SO MUCH TIME and it would've been so cool to see her travel to different asian countries, you know!! I just wish there were more non-white representations )-: There was so much potential!

Overall, I did enjoy this book, so I give it 4 stars :)

This book gave me hope. There were a couple of quotes that touched my heart, imma just quote them below! An enjoyable and eye opening read where I felt like I was travelling with the mc to the different universes that she chose. I especially enjoyed the Henry David Thoreau references, and when Nora mentioned (in one of the lives she chose) that she was writing a book about HDT and his relevance for the modern day environmentalism movement, I was like "damn, I'd really want to read that," hahaha. It's coincidentally also mental health awareness month so this was the perfect read!

"The only way to learn is to live."

" ' When you have worries about things you don't know about, like the future, it's a very good idea to remind yourself of things you do know.' "

"As Thoreau wrote, 'It's not what you look at that matters, It's what you see.' "

"And when she thought of her root life, the fundamental problem with it, the thing that had left her vulnerable, really, was the absence of love."

"'You don't have to understand life. You just have to live it.'"

"We can’t tell if any of those other versions would have been better or worse. Those lives are happening, it is true, but you are happening as well, and that is the happening we have to focus on."

I think the only issue I had was with the ending, I expected something more. But I guess life is unexpected, and as Mrs Elm says "Well, that's the beauty, isn't it? You just never know how to ends."

I highly recommend this book!

4.5 stars!
