Victorian Psycho is a darkly funny, gothic version of American Psycho.

The story’s unreliable narrator, Winifred,  gets hired as a governess for the Pounds family shortly before Christmas. On the surface everything seems to be going well, but as you read more of Winifred’s internal dialogue, you quickly learn that’s not the case.

The writing in this book is absolutely gorgeous; it’s cold, bleak, and creepy.   Everything is captured perfectly that it almost felt like Ensor House was real.

I was completely engrossed in the story just because Winifred is such an interesting character. I wanted to see what she would do next. I loved how she would keep you in the dark for a bit, and I enjoyed the flashbacks to her childhood.

Victorian Psycho comes out in February and if you love Jane Eyre as much as I do, you’re going to love this! A big thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the copy!

This was epic!

Mischief Night Massacre was fiendishly difficult to put down. All 10 stories were really well-written, so well-written that I was constantly on edge. The characters are amazingly fleshed out and I loved how eerie the world-building was. There was also plenty of horror pop-culture references which made it so much more fun to read!

My favourite of the collection was Russian Dollhouse, which was the first story. It did a fabulous job of setting the whole tone of the collection, and it really kicked in my flight-or-fight response 😆. Plus it has everything you want in a Halloween story, trick-or-treating, spooky houses, and gore!

Highly recommend checking out Mischief  Night Massacre, reading this was a perfect start to spooky season!

A big thank you to the author for the copy!

So I originally tried to read this as an ebook and I just wasn’t loving the lack of quotations, but I knew I wanted to read this book, so I decided to get the audiobook version from the library, and I’m so glad I did!

Women Talking was an incredibly hard story to put down; it was such a powerful, emotional read, by the time I got to the end, I was bawling.

Highly recommend listening to this one!
