When I got the opportunity to ARC read this novella I went and binged the other books in Resplendent Royals series but not the Spare change series, and enjoyed them. I did enjoy the first one the most however…
For this one it’s a novella so typical to would read it on one short sitting but something prevented me from
Doing so. The book was cute and I found the story endearing it was just that I got distracted too easily which made me have to reread consistently. So now four days later I have finally finished it. There is a bit of a disconnect in the writing. Some of that could be because I didn’t read the Spare Change. So I suggest having a knowledge of both series going into this Novella for full enjoyment.
Lastly, and it was something that bothered me in the other books as well is that the books are written using the British English spellings of various words. That’s fine.. I read British books all the time and gravitate towards them. The problem is that they sound like they are written by an American. I have not had the chance to see where the author is from/resides but I would be very surprised if it is in the UK but maybe??
Anyway, that may just be a personal thing that affected my enjoyment as o got so hyper focus on the disconnect with the spelling within an American language framework.
All that being said o rounded up to 4 starts as I think this will be a quick treat for folks to enjoy and to get them into the holiday spirit!
I am thankful to have gotten an eARC for free from the author to enjoy which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars and I rarely round up.
⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again
