Wow. What an amazing, sometimes heart-breaking and beautiful story. This is one of the best books I've ever read. My only piece of advice for potential readers is to keep a box of tissue handy. You will need it.

I couldn't get into this book. The writing didn't engage me at all and I didn't give a hoot about any of the characters I was introduced to. It's going back to the library.

Couldn't get into this book so I didn't bother trying to finish.

Could not get into the book at all. The writing felt too contrived. I didn't really care for most of the characters and I ended up skimming through more than half the book because I just wanted to see how it would end and the ending wasn't even satisfying. I'm pretty disappointed because I expected so much more after reading a lot of praise about this book.

I read this book in one night. I really enjoyed the fast pace and the characters. It was fun to read a mystery that takes place in 1805, solved by a 'spinster' whose intelligence is apparently a turn-off to most men.

Not going into detail in this review, just wanted to make a short notation of my enjoyment of the book.
