In all honesty, I struggled with this book - perhaps it was because I found it challenging, or maybe the pacing was a bit off and slow for me. But it was all worth it for that final chapter.

This is how you wrap up a duology, how you write a finale! AMAZING, EMOTIONAL, STIRRING - the story explored all aspects and facets of what it means to be human, to have feelings. The true protagonists were Elm, Ione, and the Nightmare - and I could not be happier!

The premise of the book is incredible, the setting dark and mysterious, and the ending spectacular! however, the cast felt one-dimensional with no real character development, and the romance was rushed - it left me wanting more from everyone. Such a pity considering that the magic mechanics are innovative and intriguing!

What. An. Ending. Talk about a cliffhanger! I am left on the edge of my seat until January 2025. The pacing of certain chapters was a bit slow and redundant with a few plot holes that drove me nuts at times but, overall, the story kept me interested and wanting for MORE!

Talk about a slow burn - and I am not talking about the relationship between the two main characters...don't get me wrong, the story is interesting, entertaining, and thrilling; just don't expect any plot twists until you have less than one hundred pages left.

This book made me cry. A LOT. Tears of pain and sorrow; tears of joy and hope; tears of anger and disappointment; tears of pure happiness. This was the perfect ending to the Throne of Glass series and I could not recommend it more after reading Kingdom of Ash. My heart is full.

The descriptions in this book are unmatched - it truly felt as if I was there, in Antica, with the characters! The love stories were a bit predictable and the characters' feelings for each other developed quite fast in my opinion, but chapter 20 made me swoon!

This book kept me on the edge of my seat and definitely made me reevaluate The Assassin's Blade book, to which I originally gave a pretty low rating. Although adding even more characters' POVs to the mix was a bit intimidating at first, the way the story flows uninterrupted and allows it to converge at certain plot points is absolutely INCREDIBLE!
I honestly struggled with finishing this book and it pains me to give it such a low rating, especially considering how I thought this series was going to be my favorite Sarah J. Maas’s one. However, I felt like for the majority of the book the essence of the characters was lost or changed entirely - part 2 was in fact the most difficult section to get through as I felt so distant from characters I truly came to love. The final part of the book was able to tie all together and I am satisfied enough with this ending - if it even is a true ending since there are so many questions left unanswered…
