A fun, cutesy, sapphic summer read. Rolled my eyes a lot but also laughed a lot.

Underwhelming plot. Sometimes the dialogue was downright silly. But over all a cute & quick read. 10/10 on the sex scenes which were believably steamy w/out being ridiculous. I found one of the protagonists to be more likeable than the other but I appreciated the genuine chemistry built between both Aiko & Summer. The cast of endearing supporting characters in their community helped make-up for uneven character development between the protagonists. The book made me want to visit Austin & I appreciated the time taken in fleshing out the city’s vibe.

A personal and dare I say, perfect read. Perfect because this book is definitely a writer’s book. The pacing is not for everyone as it’s sometimes slowed by details that don’t further the plot BUT they add texture and vibrancy to Aria, Joan, and Steph’s worlds. A full circle moment for anyone who has read Last Night at the Telegraph and a real nostalgic time-capsule for sapphics who grew up (and came out) in the early-mid 2010s. Time itself is a character throughout the text which adds both grounding elements and surrealist layers to the story.
Graphic: Medical content and Medical trauma
Moderate: Sexual content and Sexual violence
Minor: Death

This book ripped my sapphic soul apart and put it back together again. Also fed my love for historical fiction/drama. Deeply researched with delightful author’s notes at the end about archival research process. 10/10 recommend.
Moderate: Homophobia, Racial slurs, Racism, Xenophobia, and War
Novel takes place in 1950s San Francisco. Language used by characters reflects this but does not take away from the story & instead serves to reflect how much things have (and also haven’t) changed.
