I find myself to be pretty great at predicting plot twists, but most of this book had me fully confused and spinning out of control entirely. Absolutely insane.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I loved this book so much. I had read The Bride Test a while back and enjoyed it but it wasn't my absolute favorite. This book however meant so much to me. Quan and Anna are characters I rooted for the entire time I was reading. Their love for one another could MAYBE be considered a bit insta-lovey for those who don't enjoy those types of stories but the idea of two people who find each other when they need them most and accept each other unconditionally was beautiful to read. I loved this book and how it didn't try to wrap up every conflict with a perfect bow on top. It felt real in the sense that some things wouldn't be solved immediately by the end, but the important stuff was. I flew through this book and would highly recommend to all!!
I really enjoyed this read! Honestly probably more so than the first in the series. I loved Tristan's development throughout the book and Lucie's eventual understanding that she doesn't have to sacrifice her feminism just because she is in love. My biggest issue with the series is that although it covers important topics, I still think there could be a way to include the intersectional feminism that we need to be promoting now into the current stories. The romances are all powerful women and powerful men trying to understand one another. I recognize the time period is a bit of an obstacle but I still think Dunmore could include intersectionality and help for women of color, rather than staying focused on the white woman's plight. With all of that being said, I still really enjoyed this read. I will absolutely pick up the next one in the series!
An excellent breakdown of the blunders of our country over the past year with really interesting information/focus on the professionals who worked to combat it the entire time. Highly recommend if you feel comfortable reading it right now!
