ok. i knew i would always choose ill give you the sun over this just because of nostalgia BUT it does hold up really well it’s really good. the characters are all so amazing and im in love with them all, in true Jandy Nelson fashion. my only ONLY con is the ending could be a bit longer, I feel like some characters stories aren’t wrapped up to jandys standard.

like. i’m unsatisfied with almost everyone’s endings. wynton, one of the most interesting characters in the book and a MAIN character(?) drives all of the plot, yet we don’t get to see him live and get better?? same with clive, i woudlve loved to see him be a father…. it’s interesting that in The Sky is Everywhere the characters conclude that they are content and a whole family without their absent mom…but here finding theo is like life changing, and they weren’t living before. I’m okay with miles ending, i think we see him build ties with everyone and we know he’s gonna make changes and be okay, same with dizzy. the mom and theo needed like A SENTENCE of closure, same with clive and theo. cassidy i think it was really unnecessary to make her a sister, would’ve saved a lot of explaining if she was just taken in by theo, but i do like what it does for the bernadette/theo narrative. idk, i really enjoyed the alfonso plots but would be happy for those to have been cut in return for more of wynton, cassidy, miles and dizzy(although her storyline i feel is very complete)
