This book has a way of captivating your attention and keeping it. I couldn’t put this book down. It’s not something I would usually read, but I’m glad I did. It’s so good. I decided to read it because monster romances are quite popular right now and the descriptions of the book caught my interest.
The relationship between Janie and Meical was something different from the typical dark romance relationships. I like that she didn’t automatically put everything that happened aside, she actually took time to adjust to the new situation she found herself in. And Meical, as a character, was lovable, he was all about her and helped her when she asked, because he knew it would make her happy.
I’d like to say I found aspects of this book to be rather confusing, especially with how some of the characters spoke. The way they worded sentences was strange. Maybe I missed something, and it was meant to be that way, but it felt odd to me. Hence, why I didn't rate it higher.
Overall, I loved this book and definitely recommend it if you like dark romance books and/or monster romance books. The author did a great job with it.

I really wanted to love this book, but I honestly think it was just awful. The story itself would have been great if it wasn’t for the fact the characters were unlikable and just bland.
I almost dnf this book at around 35% because I just didn’t like the characters at all. I found absolutely no likeable qualities in any of them. They were all very annoying, arrogant and just plain and simple boring, but I decided to keep reading as maybe they would redeem themselves as the book went on.
At 51% of the way through the book I realised I still didn’t like the book at all. Erika just annoys me, there is absolutely nothing to like about her. Everyone makes her character out to be this strong badass fmc, when in reality the things she does just make her seem like an impulsive teen that thinks she’s grown. She’s living off family money and when she decides she wants to do things on her own, she proves herself to be completely incapable and acts like that kid that’s always imposing on the older people around them because she feels left out, (for example the first scene with her running around the Hunter Bailey gentlemen’s club like a toddler annoyed they can’t get what they want when she’s told she is not welcome). The guys are no better, just arrogant and self-obsessed, with little to no respect for anyone else in existence, it seems.
It’s made out that Micheal loves Rika. Nope, absolutely nothing about his feelings for her is love, no idea what it is, but it ain’t love. They are awful to women in general but all of the scenes with them being outright cruel towards her were just proof that he doesn’t actually love her. Like when they lure her to the house attacking her, pinning her down and making it seem like they will either assault her or kill her. The guys in this book as a whole are just awful. The only character I didn’t hate was Alex, who was unapologetic for what she had to do to put herself through college and make a life for herself. She was the one who was badass for owning it because she knew what she wanted in life and was prepared to do what it took to get there, unlike Erika.
I enjoyed the last few chapters a little as it had more suspense and depth, it expressed how angry Damon was with Erika moving in on the friend group and possibly ruining what they had, their brotherhood they created over the years. Also the part where you get to find out a small piece of information towards why Damon is the way he is. The last few chapters had more interesting details and have more depth but not enough to redeem the book as a whole.
I really wanted to like this book but after reading it I now realise it was just wasn’t worth the hype. The characters had little to no growth or development, being extremely arrogant and annoying. Yes, the spicy scenes gave it a little something more, but that was it.
No hate to the author in any way, the story itself was good. The characters just made it unbearable. I love dark romance books, but in this case the book is just not for me. I do intend to read some of her other books outside this series.

3.75 ⭐️ This book was so captivating from the first chapter and I just couldn’t put it down. It had this pull from the very first page, even the cover drew my attention to it.
I will say there’s a bit of a confusing jump between chapters in the story. I felt like there was a fair bit of missing information that was needed to truly give more depth to not just the story but the relationship between the characters. It all moved just a little too quickly.
Overall, it is a wonderful book and a good short read. Would be a good read if you’re in a reading slump and need something to spark that desire to read again.
The author did a wonderful job with this book. I recommend it despite the mild confusion in parts.
I would have rated it higher if not for the fact it is so short and missing some aspects thay would make it amazing.

4⭐️ This was a wonderful little read. Not something I would usually read but I picked it up in a stuff your kindle day event and decided to give it a go.
I would have rated it higher but the book was just too short. I recommend. Can’t wait for the other instalments in the wheel of the year series.

5 ⭐️- I absolutely adored this book. It’s by far my favourite of the series. It’s very short compared to the rest and while a lot of people say it’s not necessary to read it for the series, I highly recommend it. It’s a feel good book with a magical touch to it, especially after the heavy atmosphere of the previous book. I highly recommend it.
