I didn’t love the way that the situation with Nathaniel was portrayed, I actually think it was a pretty bad way of portraying it. Besides that, the love story between Spade and Denise was amazing, and PTSD was portrayed in such a good way. I think the book as a whole was good, and I thoroughly enjoyed Spade punching Ian into the sea. Ian always brings the fun, and it was a good introduction into Mencheres’ book which is the next one in the series

This book was  good, but I must admit I am not used to the writing style and content. It was a light hearted, witchy retelling, that unfortunately touched on some issues in a not delicate manner.

Hostage to Pleasure is one of the most critical books in the series. The readers are introduced to Pure Psy, Amara and Ashaya, the Human Alliance, Zie Zen and we get more info on Kaleb.

The relationship between Ashaya and Dorian is one of the most impactful in terms of the growth experienced by both people. Dorian especially is confronted with his bitter actions and behaviour, and Ashaya supports him to sort his shit out. It was great to see more of Dark River and Mercy was also iconic.

A very strong enjoyable read!

This book had sooo much potential in my eyes, but the writing style from the very first page threw me completely off unfortunately. I just could not get behind the seemingly disjointed sentence structure and overuse of metaphors and similes - i think i’m just not use to it, but I was rolling myself half the time at the literary devices. Like when you get marked down in school for using TOO many similes, that’s what this book felt like.

I simply could not get into it. And the random sexual chemistry fully threw me off and felt disconnected to the rest of the novel.

Besides that, the book did get better towards the end in terms of story. I did get sad when
Silas carks it
and felt happy at the end of the book. Everything was wrapped up very nicely which I enjoyed

This book holds the most special place in my heart. Tally is my idol, and is honestly one of the most relatable characters. The love between her and Clay is eternal, and is SO GODDAMN CUTE

Plot:
Ashaya, Katya interrogated, Krycheck killed Marshall, Anthony made council

I tossed up on ranking this a 4.75 or 5 star, because this book just slays so goddamn hard and is one that fully sticks with you. BUT IS ALSO FULLY FRUSTRATING. Cat, just kill the guy FFS. Why Rodney? Also why did old mate get turned into a vamp. I wanted the end of the fight between Cat and Bones to go a bit more slay than that ngl; I wanted it to have a bit more of an oomph. I NEEED Bones' perspective on this.

Also Vlad is the girl bestie; and Spade is an icon. I love these characters; and wow does everything make a lot more sense on the 2nd proper reread.
