such a gorgeous, riveting read! i loved iris, her complexity and depth was so captivating and heartbreaking that it made me love her and want to root for her all the more. i most especially loved the slow burn enemies to lovers dynamic that she developed with roman. what a beautiful, raw and yearnful relationship. this was beautifully written and equally engaging with the aspects of war, magic, and mythology incorporated. the last third of this book, wow. can’t wait to read the second installment.

what a lovely, lovely gem of a book. truly captures just the fuck all feels of being a human, the ups and downs, and how similar we just all are in the end. and somehow we just need each other, be it someone we are close with or be with a stranger. community is important.
wonderfully done with bits of lightheartedness sprinkled in between the deep, thought provoking moments written about our humanness.
