who knew chess could be hot?

i didn’t but every time, nolan said to mallory, “i want to play chess with you”, i just kept hearing something else.

not to mention the fact that mallory, is such a relatable older sister, i was crying at one of the scenes in this book. i haven’t related this much to a character in quite a while.

dare i say this is my new favorite ali book? well until her next one comes out.

wow ok rebecca.

this was phenomenal, for someone who just started writing fantasy, this really was amazing. we get to learn so much more about the world in this book, especially about the reveal at the end of fourth wing.

i honestly had no idea what direction this book was going to go in but i was really happy with both parts 1 and 2.

i cannot believe the ending of this book as well, i was not super surprised at the ending of book 1 but this book, omg, i need book 3 NOW.

i truly cannot wait to see where this series goes in the future, there is so much more to explore in this world.

DNF at 41%.

i tried, i really did but i cannot get into this book and at this point i really should be pretty interested to see where the plot goes but i simply do not care.

i enjoyed the main characters but i just didn’t like them enough to keep going with the story and really struggled to find the plot line.

i think this is a typical first book in a big high fantasy series that sets up a lot of things and in many cases is either a hit or miss from me, in this case a miss.

i would still recommend this book to people who typically enjoy some thick high fantasy books.

a phenomenal ending to this trilogy.

all loose ends were tied up with an ending that leaves more to be explored in the magnificent north. i really hope stephanie makes more books in this world because it has a lot more stories that need to be told.

i think everyone got the ending they deserved in this book.

you’ll be hearing from my lawyers stephanie.

this book was too good. the delicious slow burn between jacks and eva will haunt me forever and so will that ending.

as the book says “there are infinite endings for every story.” i will PATIENTLY wait for the correct ending in the third book.

this was so mf good.

i have never read a book that was so much like a dark fairytale.  this was 1000% better than the caraval series and no one can change my mind.

i cannot wait to learn more about this world and it’s romance.

this was such a great sequel.

we got so much more from the side characters and they became some of my favorites. in addition, the monster did not let up in his sass ones and i found myself cackling at most of his lines.

i had a tough time getting into this but once i did omg it was great.

some things i really enjoyed: the sassy monster, the fmc, elspeth and her personality of brave but realistic and the love interest.

also, the card magic in this book was really cool.

lastly, one thing i was kinda disappointed about was the ending. from everything i heard people were in shock about the cliffhanger but it made sense to me. but this point is purely a me problem.

i gotta be honest, i feel like 3 stars is generous for this book.

i really wish garber followed a similar plot to the last two and had one final game to conclude the series instead of this mess of a plot. without having the game, scarlett and tella were just running around being dumb for most of the book.

i do not understand tella’s love triangle in this book, jacks spent most of the book being nice to her and legend spent most of the book being mean/ignoring her and guess who she ended up with.

this was a tough one to finish, i thought the beginning was ok but the “world building” of the book simply happened to late in the series imo and left us with a half baked book.

i read this series in preparation for the spin-off and i loved jacks in this book so i really hope i love ouabh.

i really enjoyed this sequel. i got to learn more about this world and magic system and i got to learn more about donatella, scarlet’s sister.

this books was just as fun and magical as the first and introduced some new characters that i’m excited to see how they fit in the last book.

i am really enjoying the emphasis on the sisterly bond between scarlett and tella, i just hope they are more honest with each other in book 3. additionally, i really hope that book 3 has pov’s from both sisters, that way they get equal time dedicated to both of them.

i am really enjoying these books, i just wish there was some more to the explanation to the world and less repetitiveness. so far this series has given me low-ya vibes.
