I enjoyed this but not quite as much as The Slow Regard. The writing is exquisite as all of Rothfuss. I'm glad he's taking his time before finishing the series as anything less than exquisite would be disappointing.

This is a great story with good characters. My favorite part is that it brings mythology alive so that it also teaches those who've never learned about it.

Generally speaking, I walked away from this book dissatisfied. The writing was amazing throughout: I just couldn't settle with the ending. He didn't kill Starling and yet he did. To me the ending was against both Lecter's character and Starling's character.

This is easily the best of the books so far. Hard to say whether it would have been even better if I hadn't seen the movie first. There was more of Lecter than the previous book, and that in itself was invaluable to the atmosphere.

This was so much better written than Hannibal Rising. The characters breathe and I love the ending.

This was a solid story with some beautiful writing in places. My only knock on it was that the murders themselves were rushed and compressed. While I realize that he would not be as good in the beginning as he wins up, it seems he should still be methodical, given that is hard-wired into his character.
