I heard from a friend on tik tok that if I liked ACOTAR I would love this series an I think I might actually like this one a lot more. I’ve only read the first book but I can’t wait to go to my local library an get the rest of the series an binge read. I absolutely adore poppy an Hawke.

All I’m gonna say is if Oliver doesn’t go find his man’s with his friends ima be upset, but I didn’t like how the ending was set up to seem like
Spoiler he was gonna live an be with Meredith for a long time it just doesn’t seem like a good choice since he’s already told her that he did love James when they were together 10 years ago before he went to jail an now since James is “gone” he’s gonna settle for mere. Oliver is to kind for that I feel.
Overall a great story, I lived for all the Shakespeare quotes an the acting part of the story. Definitely don’t miss Richard the dude got what he deserved in my opinion but I also feel like the roles they were put into helped shape their character an ego, Richard was always playing the main role which in Shakespeare plays usually the villain so it’s no surprise that he eventually fell into the role outside of acting.

Um that ending!!!!!!! I was so hoping an happy ending for the trio but damn I just got my heart ripped out of my chest an stomped on. I also just want to throw out a connection that I realized Bree is connected to Nick bc he’s the the descendent of Lancelot but idk how they are gonna do the rest of the story there bc the legend goes that Lancelot betrays Arthur by sleeping with Guinevere so I’m curious to see that play out an also that her an Sel definitely have a lot of chemistry due to the fact that he is a descendent of Merlin so of course he would feel a pull toward Bree even while being Oathed to Nick. I know it’s a stretch but I’m more team Sel than Nick just bc Sel an her have the best relationship an yes it started out being very toxic with him trying to literally unalive her in the first half of the first book but damn this book just solidified team Sel
Spoiler she made a bargain with the shadow king to save Sel so tell me she doesn’t have stronger feelings for Sel then Nick.
Anyways aside from that this book is an absolute soild 1000⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me I loved that this book was deeply enriched in POC representation an history an that they didn’t stick to stereotypes, I felt rage, an heartache for what the characters went thru an faced an the nod to POC history an slavery at the hands of white Americans as a white women myself it was definitely an eye opening read an I am amazed at the strength an courage POC have to continue to educate an break down centuries worth of racism an inequality. I don’t want to drone on an sound like a broken record so I’m gonna end this review with saying this will probably be my top read of 2023 an I am highly anticipating the third an final book which I hope gives us Team Sel endgame an finally lets our broken love trio have there peace also just a quick throw out FUCK TOR I never liked her in the first book an I sure as hell hate her guts in this
Spoiler for putting Bree in a situation where they were literally torturing an going to experiment on my girl
so yeah okay I’m done now

Um when I tell you the book had me on the edge of my seat I mean that literally. My poor nails are never gonna recover from this. Also can we just take a minute to appreciate how freaking adorable Pip an Ravi are tho, like my heart was breaking at the end of the story. Figuring out who the DT killer was clicked into place as soon as she found the email from
SpoilerAndy,
I feel like at that point it was kinda obvious.
Spoiler The whole kidnapped an duct tape scene had me feeling like I was the one being kidnapped an duct tapped up, like the way that it was written an the way the reader reads it it felt like it was truly depicting a scared anxious person. I also enjoyed how we got to see the aftermath of the last book an how that took a toll on pips psyche an the people around her. One last thing that ending?? You telling me you just gonna end it like that, I was expecting like a happy reunion in person but a text message??? I wanted more!!! Also fuck Detective Hawkins for real tho all that could have been avoided if he had just done his job🙄
Overall a great series an I would definitely recommend if you like thrillers, with just a hint of romance an a lot of true crime
