Yeah it was good. whatever. charmingly well written per usual. i think daphne is the character i relate to most so far. emily henry in general does a great job at writing extremely relatable characters, but i really saw myself in daphne's need for control, fear of being unworthy/left behind, and quiet acceptance of those insecurities. i admired her breaking out of those insecurities as the book developed and learning how to create her own identity and feel confident in it. that's something im really trying to do right now in this phase of my life.
ashleigh really reminded me of Olivia (de los Reyes). i've never known anyone like Miles personally, but i've always admired people like him who naturally are friendly, inquisitive, and genuine. i just love the small town she was in too. i think daphne working at the library really reminded me of middle school and passing a couple hours there after school before my mom picked me up. i never got lost in the shelves like daphne did, but it sparked my fire enough that when i combusted with a love for reading in college, it felt like a homecoming.

i love elle kennedy. this book made me cry at 3 AM. i didn’t forget how much i enjoy her storytelling, but i was still pleasantly satisfied every time i laughed and yearned to know more. dialogue so charming, it had me reciting lines aloud. i’ve been reading so many books that use sex as the selling tactic (whether or not the ratio of sex to plot is imbalanced or not), so it’s refreshing to finally read something and look forward to the plot development and not the next hookup scene. step 1 to exiting my dark romance comfort spiral/reading rut.
