Lots of trudge. It took me a month to read. I was obvi interested enough to keep going, but I almost DNF a few times. The base of the story is great. But it’s rather repetitive and took too long to get to the point. The last hundred pages or so were the best. But that’s 500 pages of trudgy buildup to get there.

I will probably read the next one. I hope there is more action and less trudge or I won’t continue.

Fun one. Not her biggest twist. But still a solid mystery. And as always. My guess was wrong. 😂

I really enjoyed this. It starts with a bang. It never gets truly slow, but was probably only a 4 star read until I got to those last 50 or so pages. And wow! I was invested. The twists just kept twisting. And I mean true twist. Not out of the blue stuff that doesn’t make sense.

Anyway. What a ride. On the level of Alice feeney. Loved it.

This was cute. A sweet Victorian romance. I liked the characters. But the title is misleading. The title refers to a story within the story. And frankly, it was the one I was most interested in. But I was interested in the main story also. And as always, I love when Justine Eyre narrates.

Fun, sweet listen.

Fun one. Definitely breaks the mold of many genre conventions while still following plenty. Good narration. Likable characters. Love this world McLean has built even if I’m not exactly reading them in order.

I’m going with 4 stars. It’s a solid read. I was never bored, though I wouldn’t have minded some connections being made sooner.

Buddy read this one. I didn’t guess anything right. Lol. But my buddy sure did!

I enjoyed this mystery. I definitely didn’t figure it all out. But there were a lot of characters and I struggled to keep track.  But good narration and I would continue the series of I see more on sale.

Okay. So the first third of this book had me thinking it was “just” going to be 3 stars. Like I liked it fine, but there were some tropes used that had me 🙄. BUT, for once, we weren’t forced to put up with them the whole book. I would have been so annoyed had Olivia kept up her lie (by omission) the entire book. I appreciated that the truth came out early.

I did start to get into it more and more as it went on. I was admittedly annoyed with Olivia’s stubbornness. I was charmed by bennet. He was way too patient with her. But then I remembered my own H is way too patient with me and sometimes us stubborn, annoying people need that kind of balance and understanding. So, I eased up on Olivia.

The ending was predictable but I’m glad. I’d have been upset if it didn’t end the way it did.

Overall, this is a super cute, zero spice story I really enjoyed.

Somehow I completely missed marking this book as reading/read. But I listened to the audio back in October, so beee goes.

If we mostly neutral toward this one. It gets great reviews, but I was a bit bored. And I wasn’t sure of the love interest. I had no grasp on him and how they fit. I just didn’t feel it.

I did enjoy the uniqueness of the magic in this one. That was fun.

I will probably continue to book 2 because booktok tells me it’s worth it. 🤷‍♀️

Just take my heart and rip it to shreds. 😭 I had all the tears for this book. It hit so hard. I’m not sure if it’s classified as literary fiction or romance, but…the way KR wrote these characters and their lives—I felt like I knew them personally. I was there for them. I knew them. They were my best friends. I was disappointed in them. I rooted for them. I cried for them. I cried for them some more. I am crying just thinking about how I cried for them and everything they went through.

This is a beautiful story. 5 stars.
