not sure what to rate this .. the art was incredible! the characters were cute and the story was okay, but I had a fun time reading it!
Starling House by Alix E. Harrow
3.75
3.75 ?? I really enjoyed a majority of this book! however, I think some things felt a bit undeveloped. I also felt like there could have been MORE to the plot and ending? I’m not sure how to explain it! also the romance was unexpected… I didn’t hate it, but I wish it was a bit more developed as well. with that said, I really liked Harrows writing style and the atmosphere. I am a sucker for gothic prose and spooky houses!
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

I wanted to love this so bad but meh. I did enjoy the main characters quirky thoughts ..
the quirky thoughts: “I would have to find something else to bury here and I wished it could be Charles.”

Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett

better than the first one! I almost wish I would have read this slower
Evocation by S.T. Gibson
3.75
Im unsure on the rated maybe a 3.75… I wanted to LOVE this book, but it was just a good read. I really enjoyed the beginning, but I expected a bit more magic. This book really just focused on the relationships, which I did enjoy.. but it wasn’t what I was in the mood to read.
However I did love the characters, they felt SO real! I also loved the magic bits we did get. S.T. Gibson either did really good research, or is into spiritualsm.magic/occultism (whatever you want to call it) herself bc all the information seemed accurate! I’m not an occultist, but I like researching those topics. It was fun to read a magical book with actual magical beliefs!

The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas
4.5
🎧 i want to inject Isabel Cañas pros into my veins.
almost every paragraph gave me chills. Cañas is an incredible writer and I am so excited to read more from her! this book was a 5 stars until the end, I didn’t hate it, but it just felt a bit rushed and I feel like it lacked something? but I also was rushing and finish before I had to turn it into my library, so maybe it was just me! but if u love spooky houses and atmospheric writing, this is for you!
also, I loved the narrators! definitely a good one to listen to!
