Unfortunately this book was way OVERHYPED, there were multiple times where I would think to myself “ am I reading the same book as everyone one else?” This book is supposed to be a EPIC Roman inspired, dark academia, political fantasy, magical book, but it was more like the K-Mart vision of Harry Potter and Dark. While Vis is a BA character, the world/plot built around him was never answered at the end of the book, yes I know there will be a 2nd book but NOTHING was answered. The “magic” in the book was more of a “vibe” not anything I would consider magical. I gave it 2 stars because Vis is cool and there were politics involved but that’s about it.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the diversity and format of the book. The pace was quick and kept you intrigued the entire time. I thought I had the book figured out so I was surprised by the twist.
