I knew this memoir about grief and loss would take some emotional mettle to get through and it did. Beautifully written. I am so glad I took time to feel my feelings as I read it.

Fell is an understatement in the title, but otherwise this book was the mythical fantasy adventure I thought it would. I loved the Korean folktale retelling.

A fun escape. A lot of build up for a beyond-fast-paced last quarter.

Fascinating life.

I have some questions about her recall of facts but trust the emotional impact of her life and its events ring true. There were a couple moments in which O’Connor makes some really unfortunate comments, which were really messy. Overall, I think it’s more a reflection of poor editing, not bad intent on her part. Still messy though.

Quite strange, discomforting in a  good way. Recommended for adults, particularly those with a uterus.

Loved this even though none of it is in my “usual” faves. Bardugo is a terrific writer.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 0%.
I turned it off during the chapter where she is impersonating a disabled coworker. It seemed ableist. Like she wasn’t just mimicking his voice but making fun of it. It soured the book for me.
