Who wouldāve thunk Rose would be my favorite character with how she started but thatās what we call šCHARACTER DEVELOPMENTš apparently the rest of the characters didnāt get that memo.
Rose and Shen were so fun and cute to be around in the story and Iām so glad they kinda just slapped her in the face with the truth instead of trying to lie and sugar coat anything (which makes sense). I feel like this was HER book and nobody elseās truly. Shen is honestly just a good guy like I canāt really say much about him cuz it is what it is. Also love the accent in the audiobook for him š©

Wrenās chapters were like the worst filler episodes in a show that you know theyāre coming so it makes you drag getting through Roseās chapters so I didnāt have to read her. She was just context for the book she truly didnāt have any character development that I can tell (if Iām wrong lmk). Imma bring it up everytime WHAT TRAINING DID SHE DO SO I KNOW WHAT NOT TO DOā¦sheās a terrible spy they set her up for failure. Which Banba was kinda a parallel to Rothwhateverthefuck especially the inner voice moments. Tor was useless truly until the end š never liked him and still donāt so theyāre gonna try and change that next book cuz I suspect book 2 is gonna be Wrens/Tors character development book which Iām not excited about in the slightest.

This was simply a waste of time. So I dnfed us with 23 pgs left cuz it felt like torture. There were good quotes and moments in the beginning and then it just completely fell off. The 3rd act conflict. Ass. The resolution. Trash. The communication on the fmc part. Atrocious. The side character for the fmc. Death sentence.
Loved the idea of the book. Hated the execution.
Iām gonna try one more book by this author to see if I should just avoid

It started off real strong but I also went in with no real expectations just vibes and Iām so glad I picked it up!

Kirkling is just Marthe 2.0 and she shouldāve died idc. Boo hoo your mans was a good guy and died doing what he loved knowing the risk. LEAVE THE KIDS OUT OF IT YOURE A SENIOR FUCKING CITIZEN š¤¬
The siblings are meh. Ozark is gonna be a problemā¦. Either dead or alive š¤·š½āāļø

This was somethingā¦. I didnāt dislike it but the writing kept me hooked. The build up was really good but also super obvious for me personally so that took it down a bit. As a sister with a sister I understood the different povs (fuck rose tho š)
