I've read it only because it was for a book club, otherwise I would have passed my way. The problems the characters encounter are resolved way too easely. It is described as a book of lownstakes, which is definitely true, but it becomes boring and predictible quite fast.

Overall, I can't say I liked this book because of all the  "ultraviolence" in the novel, but I admit the author uses a very creative language (quite difficult tonunderstand, definitely a challenge of this book also) and has a couple of interesting reflexions about jail, political strategies, and the notion of punishment.

Not my favorite book by Hemingway. I liked the descriptions, but I found the dialogues mostly shallow most of the times (probably because the characters are drunk 90% of the time). The part in Spain is more vibrant than the one happening in Paris.

Although it took me quite a long time to finish the book, I overall enjoyed it. The character development is quite interesting (except from Rosemary who is still naive). The flasback structure felt a bit strange at the beginning, but I felt it made more sense as time went by.

I enjoyed the premise of the story, but I did not like how it was developed. Sometimes it felt like a biology class and that tended to break the rhythm, especially in the middle of dialogues. I felt the ending was quite rushed and that some characters were added in a random way (and they acted quite randomly as well).

Did not finish book. Stopped at 53%.
Had to bring it back to the library and did not like it enough to borrow it again. Sounds too much like a physics class and I did not like that.
