got a little repetitive with
Violetpaw switching sides and Twigpaw worrying about her. poor choices made in all Clans… Onestar character death was whatever, I’m more upset at ShadowClan falling apart: I wish there was a bit more expansion on WHY the cats chose to split off. yeah yeah the lungwort and Twigpaw or whatever but really? like a thousand moons of existence and they just like… have no pride? Should have put up more of a fight for ShadowClan to stick together in my opinion. also I think Jayfeather’s character has kind of been reduced to being grumpy and Alderheart is a bit boring as a main character (forgot about Needletail at the end of it basically)

shoutout Sandstorm for having one of the worst deaths in the series
. Alderpaw is a boring main character and yet again uses the hesitant medicine cat and forbidden love tropes... I'm more interested in his sister as a character and it might be interesting to see her have a perspective in the later books.

Even better than All the Light We Cannot See, in my opinion! Doerr's historical writing is once again amazing (love Constantinople) and his dystopian and fantasy elements make it even better!
