This was a relatively quick paced romantic comedy. I enjoyed the lightness of the storyline. Renovating a house is extremely stressful on anyone let alone two people who had a past flame. It's comical to imagine it.
I enjoyed the addition of the tenant as I felt she was my favourite part of this book.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to pallete cleanse after some intense reads. It's great for that. Or if you just THAT into romance. It's cute.

This book follows a Cherokee girl who finds her brothers learning to be bothersome. As siblings often do. The book holds a focus on Cherokee language with pronunciation text to learn.

I really like that the parents are given space to be imperfect. I find a lot of books show perfect parents who don't make mistakes sometimes. I'm pretty sure all parents make small mistakes despite how much they love their kids. Parenting is a LOT of work and learning. It was very validating.

The artwork in this book is astonishing and very appealing. I love the various colours of red and browns. It's a very natural palette. I found it comforting.

I received an ARC from Hear Our Voices Tours.

The Art Thieves hooked me immediately, within the first few chapters. It is a YA work of fiction. The book is told from Stevie's POV and it follows her through a series of events leading up to an apocalypse. There is a lot of tough situations that Stevie is forced into.  I found the characters really loveable. Tex was a beautiful addition to the story. I would insert how he spoke of his wife here but it would be the longest book quote ever. You should just read the book and fall in love with Tex too. The sibling love between Levi and Stevie was wonderfully put together. Having much younger siblings myself, I remember what it was like to feel like a protector.
This book touches on topics of racism and the effects of colonialism. Andrea Rogers is a phenomenal writer and I really couldn’t recommend her books more. After reading both Man Made Monsters and The Art Thieves I know I will be watching for when her next story comes out.
Thanks to @hearourvoicestours for providing me with a free copy of the book.

This romance story will give you all the feel-good fall vibes. It’s written much like the warm comfort of a pumpkin spice latte. I ended up ordering Pumpkin Caramel Lattes in September, likely enabled by all the mention of pumpkin I was reading about. Each chapter is jam packed with cozy.
Gus and Sirena make a fun match. I liked the addition of magic and spells gone in the wrong direction. I loved reading Sirena's mishap with cooking for Gus. The theme of repeating October has me looking forward to Halloween more than ever.
I think Celestine has gotten me to romanticize Fall once again and I’m really thankful for that.
I’m giving this book 4 stars. I recommend it to anyone looking for a light-hearted snag of a book.
Thanks for the free electronic copy of Deja Brew I received through NetGalley!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 85%.
This is awful. I really tried to like this. But it's just garbage. I'm sorry. Abuse is abuse. Not romance.

Man Made Monsters is written by Andrea L. Rogers and illustrated by Jeff Edwards. The stories take you through the generations of past and into the future. Most of the stories are heavy with grief and loss. Seriously, the second story had me crying at a picnic table in public.
The weight is strong enough that, for a moment, you feel it as your own. Are we all not just terrified to lose the ones we love in ways just as horrifying as those portrayed in these stories? Quite possibly, more than likely, it's already happened to someone you know. Just without the vampires, werewolves and zombies.

My favourite character was Ama, from the last paragraph of the first story to the moment when she rode in on horseback. She seems strong, a protector through the generations. Imperfect but doing her best to watch over. I woke up the week after finishing the collection of stories thinking of Ama riding in on horseback. I could just picture her riding in. Shawl wrapped around the shoulders. It felt so real to me, so I knit one up for her.

This was an overall enjoyable read. I felt a wide range of emotions while reading the various stories. I found myself taking moments or days even, to contemplate each story. I will be keeping this book on my shelf it's so beautifully illustrated, I will be keeping these monsters.

Thanks to Hear Our Voices for the opportunity to review Man Made Monsters.
