this was just whatever. i know it’s supposed to be “toxic” but it didnt feel very romantic. like even when a relationship is toxic, i still want to feel like the characters love each other.
Spoiler also, the fact that they never even talked about the abortion???? like im glad it was included, but how can they call this a serious relationship if she never mentioned it.
i think i would have liked it better if there was a big declaration of love at the end. also, the fact that they considered werewolves superior was so random and unnecessary and a little icky.

this was easily my fav queens cove book. the writing wasnt perfect, but i did like it. the fact that they were still in love with the person from when they were teenagers wasnt super realistic, but i didnt care. i loved finn 🥵🥵🥵. i usually dont like second chance romances, but i was okay with this one because it wasnt too angsty. its a super fun read. i liked the storyline with cole, and i really loved olivias speech to her mom at the end

I learned a little bit, but not an extraordinary amount. I liked the writing, but it was not life-changing. I do think that it was definitely too long. Also, in my opinion, the author did not handle the fact that Madison was an enslaver particularly well. Like, when he did mention it, he either glossed over it or made a point to emphasize how well Madison treated his enslaved people. Um, good for him for not being quite as much as a POS as some of his contemporaries, I guess? It just feels like such a weird and icky thing to compliment him on. Like, no matter how "well" he treated them, he still thought of them as property, even though he KNEW IT WAS WRONG. That did not take up very much of the book, but when it was mentioned, it irritated me. The conclusion tried to make up for it, but it did not quite do it for me. Overall, it lowered my opinion of James Madison, even though I think the goal was to do the opposite. I have always thought of Madison as a fairly rational and levelheaded president, but this book definitely revealed that he could be just as underhanded and unprofessional as so many other politicians have been throughout history. Oh well, I should have known better than to expect a president to be a good person. That almost never happens.

the first section was good, but i didnt love the next sections, and i wish she would have touched more about the effects of mental illness on unhoused people as well as the involuntary commitment of people without families and resources. i wish i liked it more because the title is possibly my favorite of all time

the first like 80% absolutely slayed, but i didnt love the twist. also the whole story was a little bit generic. it was like fbaa, acotar, the hunger games, and tog combined, only with vampires added. i would have liked a little more creativity

i think alexandra vasti’s debut novel might actually kill me. she is just too good. she is one of the best historical romance writers ever. already one of the greats. honestly the only problem i had with this was that i wanted it to be longer. and im sad that i have to wait like 10 months for her next release. idk if i can take it.
