“You are the most beautiful thing to ever happen to me” definitely got me. And it has my favorite trope: wildly powerful man who is obsessed with an equally powerful woman. It was slow starting and more political than I was anticipating, but it was a good story.

This is the kind of high I’m chasing every time I pick up a book… I mean wow. I absolutely devoured it. The tension was incredible, and I was left just enough confused for just long enough. The ending, though? I am still reeling. I don’t have words. It’s the kind of book I want to reread immediately when it’s over, and I love that for me.

A tough, sarcastic, thought-provoking book. I feel like the main character’s change was for ambiguous reasons which made it less believable, even if the whole point of the book was to be outrageous to show how reality is unfortunately not that different.

City of Souls and Sinners by Kayla Edwards
Did not finish book. Stopped at 28%.

Where is the plot? I’m not sure but I can’t keep dragging myself through this for yet another spicy scene mixed in with a walking red flag of a man. There’s morally gray and then there’s “this man would abuse you in real life because he has real anger issues.” I’m not longer interested in reading about it which is disappointing because I was really hopeful it would get better.
