Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
medium-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? Plot
- Strong character development? It's complicated
- Loveable characters? It's complicated
- Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
3.5
I loved the way the story progressed but the writing was hard to follow. I feel like Ms. Yarros DOES NOT explain information enough times for the reader to get it. I had to stop and say âwait whatâ and go back to reread shit like fifteen times. Please do better đđđđđđ
I feel like Violetâs character was somehow worse for me in this book. Since when has she been so obsessed with the truth? That was not something established about her in the first book so it felt like a bad plot device in this one. Her fights with Xaden were so fucking dumb and pointless. They annoyed me a lot hahaha. I also HAAAAATED the Cat plotline. Not because she was a bitch to Violet but because it felt so stupid. Like I was just so annoyed with Violetâs whole insecurity fight in this book. Again, it did not feel established in the first book so I was just CONFUSED.Â
Anyways. Love Andarna tho. Sheâs my queenie. The first book was better by miles.

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
HOLY SHIT!!! I wish I could attach the video of me jumping and screaming I KNEW IT as I finished this book. I was unsure about this one going into it- I liked ToG well enough, but felt some key plot points werenât written very well. This sucked me right back in and committed me to the rest of the series. Amazing.
