A tad predictable, but I still enjoyed the story. (Though the very graphic sex scenes were a little much.) It’s essentially dragons and military school. I’d say the world is good for a beginner getting into fantasy. The writing is pretty simplistic and reads more like YA. The main characters easily fit into classic tropes: Violet’s your underdog with something to prove/fish out of water, Xaden’s the bad boy with a heart of gold, Dain is the overprotective boy scout. Whereas the side (or rather background) characters were pretty one dimensional. Again, I still enjoyed the story and added myself to the library’s waitlist for the sequel. Just temper your expectations. I’d say if you enjoyed ACOTAR, then you’ll enjoy Fourth Wing.

This book was fantastic. Where mythos and heroes were more episodic, troy was more epic. Because of this, the first half was slower for me to get through—lots of setup and characters. However by the time I got to the climax, I couldn’t put it down!

Bit of a slog to get through. The premise was interesting, but I found myself spacing out a lot. I only picked up this book because I liked the cover. I enjoyed it enough to keep going. The prologue and the climax were the best parts.
