I didn't realize this book was part of a series until I was already halfway finished, but you definitely don't need the other books to know what is going on since it's a standalone from the others.

The plot moved rather slowly for my liking, but I loved the pace between Adam and Phoebe's relationship.

The ending lacked excitement; introducing an epilogue would have made a significant difference!

The plot is what I genuinely love about this book!

While I enjoyed the first book in the series, the characters in this one didn't captivate me as much.
I appreciate how the author reintroduced the characters from the first book to assist in this story.

I was hooked on the book because the plot was unbelievably good and I had to know more about the mysterious place they ended up in.

It would be nice if there was more romantic chemistry between them.
It was a bit awkward how they quickly fell in love with each other, considering how long it took for the story to unfold.
Nevertheless, it didn't diminish how endearing each character was on their own. There wasn't a moment where I had any doubts about their motives.

I didn't realize it was a series for some reason, but now I am excited to read the next book!

I don't know if I can say with full confidence that Mackenzie and Noah had any chemistry. It felt as if it was just physical so the lovey dovey romance wasn't really there.

There were a lot of cringey moments which I admit I love sometimes but I didn't particularly care for them this time. I think it was harder to look past it when the characters weren't as lovable.

I am amazed at how a book can have so many trigger warnings and still be so wholesome.

Cyrus and Crow are dealing with traumatic events that make it hard for them to open up to each other.
Although Cyrus eventually comes around, it takes Crow longer to accept help and compassion from someone else.
The emotional journey is intense, but I truly enjoyed every moment of it!

One particular scene that stood out to me was when
Cyrus read the journal left by Crow's mother. It was an incredibly touching moment that brought tears to my eyes. I always wondered how Crow felt about Chosen in the present, especially since he still struggled with the memory of his mother's murder.

What I loved most about this book was how it advocates for mental health.
The story shows the characters seeking professional help towards the end, and
it is a powerful reminder of the importance of addressing mental health issues. This book was a beautiful and impactful read!

I tried to like Lara, but
after she physically abused Ronin I couldn't stand her. Even if he was technically a "robot", he was a robot with feelings! She also hits her nurse who made sure she survived from her wounds.
Her life story was truly sad, but her actions were questionable.

Despite the unpleasant characteristics posed by Lara's character, I was determined to uncover more about Ronin's story, which ultimately kept me engrossed in the book.

Ronin's character was the highlight of the story for me! The way he was portrayed and developed throughout was so captivating that I found myself completely immersed in his journey. Although the romance element was present in the story, I couldn't help but feel that it took away from Ronin's character, who was strong and interesting enough to carry the plot on his own.

The way the story concluded completely shattered me emotionally, leaving me in a state of uncontrollable tears!
