The world-building was done well, immersing me in the story and making me curious to know more about Dacre's perspective.

I was initially intrigued by the possibility of Dacre
having a good side, but as the story progressed, I realized that his actions were merely the result of a god's human-like emotions getting the better of him.

While I still love Roman and Iris, I must say that the romantic aspect of this book doesn't measure up to the first book in the series.

However, the author did an excellent job of fleshing out the other characters, like Tobias and Attie. The book was filled with so many likable characters that I couldn't pick just one favorite!

The only criticism I have is
that I don't understand the reason behind Sarah and Forest's death, other than to give Iris more loss in her life.

The first book of the series does a wonderful job of introducing Kee and Varro in a 'I like being around them, but they don't know I like them' type of way that quickly captures your heart and makes you root for them from the beginning. Their relationship has a grumpy-sunshine dynamic that is thoroughly entertaining to read about.

Kee is a strong and emotional character, but not in an overbearing way that can be off-putting. Actually, her emotional side makes her even more lovable, and I would consider it as one of her strongest traits.

And let's not forget about the tension between Kee and Varro when they are forced to share a room. It's electrifying! The emotions are palpable, and the intensity is exhilarating.

The plot is equally impressive. Kee and Varro have an important role in rescuing people multiple times. Kee's tech-savvy skills are the main focus of getting the mission done, and Varro is always by her side to protect her,
even when he thinks he's not good enough because of the way Valoff vows work.

Together, they help prevent a war, and the journey there is captivating.
I can't wait to read what's next in store!

One of the most memorable parts for me was when the
MCs had a mature conversation about their child. It was a moment that showed their genuine concern for their child's well-being. I was impressed by the MMCs unwavering kindness and gentle nature toward Charlie.

The romance was mediocre, but I realized that the point of the story was about second chances.

That being said, I was a bit thrown off by the sudden
introduction of a stalker in the story. The stalker's presence felt somewhat disconnected from the overall plot and detracted from the book's otherwise compelling narrative.

Wow, the author's portrayal of the relationship between Tavi and Torran was nothing short of sweet! Although it was a slow burn, the tension and mistrust between them made their eventual love story all the more satisfying. I was surprised at how even the simplest moments, such as a hug, could be so meaningful and heartwarming!

I have a feeling the author loves her animals, as Luna played such a significant role in bringing the characters together. I'm all for a cute animal being written as an important character!

Although the upcoming book won't be from Tavi's perspective, I can't wait to see how their relationship develops through someone else's eyes.

The bright yellow cover of the book initially drew me in, little did I know how deceiving it was! It took a while for the story to build up, but once it did, I found myself hooked by the strange events that began to unfold. The author did an excellent job of keeping me engaged during the last half of the story, and I struggled to put the book down.

I realized that there were a few unanswered questions that left me wondering.
For example, I couldn't help but question if Ellerie's parents were still alive and safe. Also, I was curious about why Whitaker was released from his bonds when Ellerie wished for them to leave the town and not return. These questions left me feeling a bit unsatisfied, but I suppose it's up to our interpretation of what happens next!

The ending was a bit anticlimactic.
However, after all the twists and turns throughout the story, it was a relief to see Ellerie have a resemblance of a happy ending.

Stormy has gone through some tough and trying times in her life. She has finally found a place where she feels safe and feels as if she can let her guard down. Just as she begins to relax, bad things start happening again. Thankfully, she has Torin by her side, who is protective and will stop at nothing to keep her safe from harm. However, the constant secrecy surrounding their situation can be exhausting, and it often leads to a lot of repetitive back-and-forth dialogue.

Rowan is dealing with some serious emotional distress
that has yet to be resolved. One of my favorite parts of the book is when Keir suggests that Rowan seek professional help to deal with her issues.

The romantic aspect of the story was not as well-executed.
The chemistry between Rowan and Keir, who ended up getting married in a seemingly sudden and unbelievable way, felt forced.

I admit I had high expectations for this particular story, especially since I enjoyed the first book in the series. This one just wasn't for me!

I am at a loss for words about where to begin with this book because it has left me in utter awe. The plot development is so intricate that I couldn't help but get lost in the story. The author throws a lot of information at you, but as the story progresses, the pace picks up, and the story becomes more engaging.

There are also a lot of crumbs throughout the book which gave me an idea of what would happen next. Although some aspects of the story were predictable, I found it satisfying when I guessed correctly! There were also moments when I was caught off guard by unexpected twists and turns,
such as the murders of some of the most likable characters.

It is a slow-burning romance, making it all the more satisfying when the characters finally come together. The author has also thrown in an enemies-to-lovers plot, adding an extra layer of complexity to the romance.

Poppy, is a force to be reckoned with. She is charming, strong-willed, and knows her way around a dagger! I found myself becoming more and more invested in her story as the book progressed. I could see why Hawke falls for her, despite his rough exterior. Hawke is a gray character and complex
with a heartbreaking backstory that explains his motivation to save his brother.

Reading this book was an emotional rollercoaster, and I cannot wait to read the next one!

Loved this book! It was a great blend of romance and suspense! The book was easy to follow and kept me engaged with its interesting mafia story. As the first in the series, it not only introduces the characters but also provides a clear understanding of their alliances.

Noemi is a character with a deep secret that she keeps hidden from everyone to protect her brother. I truly empathize with her for keeping quiet for so long! The book captured her heart-wrenching journey as she struggles with trust issues and being controlled by her father.

Enter Conner, the man who is going to change her world. He was the epitome of a mafia romance hero, fiercely loyal and protective of Noemi.
It was heartening to see how he made her feel safe enough to reveal her secrets.

Mexican Gothic is such an incredible thriller book that had me on the edge of my seat!

The way Noemi's character was written was simply amazing. She had a sassy attitude and wasn't afraid to speak her mind, which made her stand out from other characters in the book. Noemi's personality was the key to solving the mystery and I loved how the author portrayed her.

Francis, on the other hand, was timid at first, but his character development was admirable. He grew stronger as the story progressed, and I was pleasantly surprised by his actions towards the end. The author did a fantastic job of making his character come to life.

It took a little while for the story to truly turn into a horror story, but I was alarmed from the start by Howard's character.
His twisted personality gave me the chills and it didn't help that he was racist. I was more disturbed by the scene where he's on his deathbed, made me gag.

The ending was unexpected,
but it was a happy ending for Noemi, so you won't hear any complaining from me. Although the ending was left open to interpretation by the reader on what happens next, I think it was the perfect way to end the book.
