it was easy and captivating but the writing was only okay and idk i wasn’t super into it but i finished it quick and i think thats bc the chapters are like 1-3 pages long
idk it’s good but it’s one of those books that are more enjoyable to talk about and to discuss and think about than to actually read and that’s okay i think those books are great as well also no one talks abt the slur usage in this book for whatever reason??
really good! i don’t typically read short stories bc i feel like i can never get into them and they always seem inconsistent in quality and while some of these were inevitably better than others (an independent organ, kino, scheherazade and drive my car) they were all pretty solid
i liked it, it was different than normal people and conversations with friends but still enjoyable. idk i didn’t really like the last part about the pandemic i felt like it would’ve just been a bit better without it but also maybe it just feels weird that something so recent is already written down in a book? i do think that the characters are really interesting, especially simon- so many people praise him but he seems very detached from his feelings and just knows how to please people. not that i too wasn’t in love with him but at least i know that. the characters really carried and i liked the emails
honestly took me so long and did in fact drive me into a reading slump but it was a really good and interesting book i think donna tartts novels are always quite dense and you have to pay attention a lot to grasp what’s going on and i haven’t been able to even be present irl so ……. but i did enjoy this a lot!! also the ending was probably one of the most beautifully written things i’ve read in a while :,)
